The fund

Welcome to the certificate renewal application page. Here, as a terminated pilot or air traffic controller, you can find information about the application. The fund is a part of a political aid package, and FPU, with its knowledge of the aviation industry, has been selected to manage the fund.

Briefly about the application process

  • The applicant arranges the certificate renewal and covers the costs of certificate renewal, medical and language endorsement.
  • The applicant then submits documentation to FPU.
  • The FPU reviews the documentation, and if the documentation is in order and the applicant meets the requirements, the expenses are reimbursed.

Who can apply?

  • Commercial pilots, air traffic controllers and flight information operators residing in Denmark who have resigned from their jobs in the aviation industry after 11 March 2020.
  • Cross-border commuters who have had their most recent employment as a pilot, air traffic controller or flight information operator in a company with a Danish CVR number, and have resigned from their job in the aviation industry after 11 March 2020.
  • Newly trained pilots, air traffic controllers and flight information operators who have completed their training in Denmark between 1 January 2020 and 31 June 2021.

This means that holders of the following certificates can obtain support for the renewal of their rights: CPL (Commercial Pilot License), MPL (Multi Pilot License), ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License), ATCO (Air Traffic Control Officer) and FISO ( Flight Information Service Officer.

What can you use the fund for?

  • Renewal of pilot certificate, including simulator and examiner expenses.
  • Renewal of medical and language proficiency check.
  • Any travel costs associated with updating a right.

How much can you apply for?

There is a max. amount of DKK 15,000. per applicant per year.

When can you apply?

The fund is open for applications. You can only apply once you have had your renewal made.

You can apply retroactively if you have already renewed your certificate or medical.

You can apply for the funds at the earliest three months before your certificate expires.

What documentation do you need to submit?

Commercial pilots

  • Copy of flight crew license
  • Copy of proficiency check / skill test form
  • Copy of employment contract
  • Copy of letter of resignation
  • Copy of invoices from renewal of certificate, medical and / or language endorsement
  • Documentation in connection with travel expenses

Newly trained pilots

  • Copy of flight crew license
  • Copy of proficiency check / skill test form
  • Copy of diploma
  • Copy of invoices from renewal of certificate, medical and / or language endorsement
  • Documentation in connection with travel expenses

What do travel costs cover?

Travel costs, including accommodation and transport, can only be covered to the extent necessary to take the certification.

The travel costs are included in the amount of DKK 15,000 per pilot. Travel costs for a certification abroad must be necessary for the certification itself, including any hotel accommodation that may be necessary for the renewal (can be justified by, for example, a professional description of the need for renewal abroad).

In other respects, the Executive Order on the administration of subsidies from pools under the Danish Agency for Labor Market and Recruitment (no. 1276 of 31/10/2016) §11 para. 6: Subsidies are only granted to a limited extent for travel, accommodation and entertainment. Applications for grants for this and payment of expenses for this must always be specifically substantiated. And from section 17 of the Executive Order. In the granting of subsidies for transport / travel allowance, public transport must preferably be used. If a private car is used, the state’s general rate per. km (the low rate) is used, cf. Circular on Rate Regulation for Business Travel.
